UM Vice Provost for Academic Information

John L. King, Dean of the School of Information (SI), formerly School of Information & Library Science (SILS) at the University of Michigan (UM), has been appointed to be the Vice Provost for Academic Information as of June 1, 2006.

The School of Information and its predecessor, SILS, have been responsible for educating innumerable information professionals in: librarianship; archives management; human-computer interaction; and information economics, management and policy.

In his new role, Dr. King will be involved in the governance of UM’s information technology and digital media operations, as well as developing research, education, and community service applications in association with University Libraries.

Before joining UM-SI, Dr. King served as the University Librarian at the University of California at Irvine.
